Cross Stitch Arts

Originally an artist, Deborah was introduced to the world of stitching by local requests for hand painted tapestries. A craft shop owner then suggested that she tried designing cross stitch patterns to sell in her shop, which then opened up a whole new tactile world of colour that excited Deborah enormously, especially as she was finding it hard to pursue any art at home with 2 young children ready to hi-jack paints and pencils at any moment.

Deborah's Mum quickly became interested in what she was doing and they began collaborating with their designs, leading to them both contributing regularly to Cross Stitch Collection, Cross Stitcher and other needlecraft magazines over the last 11 years. With more time to spare, Sandy quickly became very popular with her huge three part historical designs and period costume ladies, which still get a lot of interest years on.

Due to the rise of the internet and social networks like Facebook, Deborah and her Mum began to get requests from stitchers, and especially outside of the UK, for just the charts. This prompted us into creating our own site to make available our back catalogue of published charts as well as new designs as downloadable cross stitch charts to print at home.

Although Sandy is now semi retired from stitching due to arthritis in her hands, Deborah is still carrying on, along with her Mum’s input and support to create further designs, including the new range of stitcherydoodahs that can be used to embellish anything and everything you can think of. Designing is their joint passion and something they will always share together along with the many stitchers who enjoy our designs.
